Social Sparks Coaching was created to fill the gap between school support and therapy. We offer joyful, strengths-based SEL skill building to help kids feel confident, connected, and emotionally supported.
At Social Sparks Coaching, we believe that every child can thrive emotionally and socially–with the right tools and support. We're here to ignite that growth–one skill at a time.
Social Sparks Coaching was founded by a school counselor who understands that many bright and capable kids feel overwhelmed by big emotions or tricky social situations—not because they lack ability, but because they haven’t yet received the right support.
That’s where we come in. Social Sparks offers a warm, engaging space where kids build essential social emotional skills like self-regulation, communication, and confidence. It’s not therapy—it’s joyful, skill-based learning designed to help kids thrive.
Social Sparks is here to meet kids where they are and help them develop the tools they need to thrive by helping children feel seen, supported, and empowered.
To equip young learners with essential social and emotional learning skills through individualized, short-term, strengths-based coaching . Rooted in a child-centered approach, we nurture emotional awareness, resilience, and positive social connections by meeting each child where they are and celebrating their strengths, we foster authentic growth, meaningful relationships, and the confidence needed for lifelong success.
To ignite each child's unique spark—helping them thrive emotionally, socially, and academically by building tools they’ll use for a lifetime.

Alissa Giroux-Jabour is the heart behind Social Sparks Coaching—a licensed school counselor with a deep passion for helping children grow into confident, emotionally resilient individuals. With years of experience in schools and therapeutic settings, she’s seen the incredible impact that social emotional learning can have on a child's confidence, relationships, and overall well being.
Alissa’s approach is grounded in connection, creativity, and care. She believes every child has unique strengths, and with the right support, they can learn to navigate emotions, friendships, and challenges with resilience and self-assurance. She created Social Sparks Coaching to offer just that: a warm, welcoming space where kids build essential life skills through individualized, engaging sessions.
Her professional path reflects a strong commitment to child development and mental wellness. Alissa graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Norwich University in 2014. Early in her career, she worked in a residential program with NFI Vermont, supporting adolescent boys with significant emotional and behavioral needs. She then joined Mosaic Learning Center as a lead behavior interventionist, working closely with children diagnosed with emotional disturbance and autism. She later transitioned to public education, bringing her skills into school communities.
Alongside her professional work, Alissa found another passion—coaching basketball. She began coaching at Essex High School, founded the Chittenden County Sparks AAU team, and became head varsity coach of the Milton High School girls basketball team in 2017. During this time, she also served as a one-on-one behavior interventionist in a high school setting and attended graduate school part-time.
In 2020, while completing her graduate internship, Alissa stepped into a school counselor role at Milton Elementary School—an experience that ignited her passion for social and emotional learning. She went on to earn her Master of Education in School Counseling, graduating summa cum laude from the University of the Southwest.
At the heart of all her work is a simple belief: every child deserves to feel empowered, capable, and connected.
